Local Resources

Katy Compassionate Friends Monthly Meetings
Pre-Covid, the Katy group met on the second Tuesday of each month. At the beginning of the meeting we have a short discussion or a special speaker. We then break out into small groups.
Since April 2020, we have changed our meeting structures. We will typically meet in person and outdoor at the Cinco Ranch Beach Park, at 3131 S. Lake Village in Katy. We ask that those attending bring a face cover, a lawn chair and a water bottle.
At the beginning of the meeting we introduce ourselves and our loved ones. We then have a discussion about a specific topic. Only those that wish to share or talk need do so.
Our sibiing group meets on ZOOM the Thursday following our first regular meeting (2nd. or 3rd. Thursday of the month). The meeting is hosted by Jill and Stephanie, our sibling leaders.
We also meet the 4th Tuesday of the month ZOOM.
We ask that you check the schdule on the website, or on our facebook page or facebook group as our schedule may change from time to time. We do have events that are planned and they may be in lieu of a regular meeting.
Two times a year we have special meetings. There is a Floating Lantern Release in May, and a Candle Lighting Ceremony in December. Details of the next local meeting are on this site's Home page.

Special Meetings For Parents Whose Child Was Lost to Suicide
The Katy Chapter of TCF has a unique program for parents whose children died from suicide. All parents attend the opening of our meeting each second Tuesday of the month and then adjourn to their own private meeting for the remainder of the meeting. Death from suicide usually requires additional and unique group dynamics.

Picture Buttons
Picture buttons are free to our members. These are buttons that are made with various pictures of our children on them. If you would like a picture button, e-mail the picture you would like on the button to Annette (tcfkaty.messages@gmail.com). If you have a digital output or an original photo that you want used, bring this to a meeting. Annette will scan photographs and create a digital print out. Digital (paper-not photographic paper) print outs are used on the buttons. We encourage our members to have at least one picture button of their children. There is no charge for this.
